Customs

  • To greet someone in Canada you should have a firm handshake and say "Hello,how are you?"

  • Or waving with your hand, nod,or saying Hello.

  • Canadian commonly speak in French and English.

  • Phrases commonly used are Salut(Hi) or Bonjour(Good Day) or Ça va?(How's it going).

  • In most places in Canada hand gestures are accepted.

  • In Québec it is very offensive to make a "thumbs down" sign.

  • Pointing with your index finger is rude.

  • It is more polite to use your whole hand.
